Race Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway: A Planning Guide
Homestead-Miami Speedway is about a 12-minute drive from Travelog Inn, which makes us one of the closest hotels to the track — and on NASCAR and IMSA weekends, Florida City and Homestead book out completely. The one rule that matters more than any other: reserve your room the day you buy race tickets. Here is how our race-weekend regulars run it.

The plan
- Ticket day
Book the room the same day
Race weekends sell out every hotel in Florida City and Homestead, often months out. The moment tickets are in hand, lock in the room — booking direct on our site or by phone gets the best rate.
- Day before
Arrive and stage
Check-in is from 1 PM. Pick up supplies — sunscreen, ear protection, a cooler if you’re tailgating — at the outlets and stores 5 minutes from the hotel, and confirm your parking-pass plan for the morning.
- Race morning, 6:30 AM
Breakfast, then leave early
The hot buffet opens at 6:30 AM. Leave for the track earlier than feels necessary: US-1 and Speedway Boulevard back up well before green flag, and the 12-minute drive stretches with race traffic.
- After the checkered flag
Let the traffic drain
Everyone leaves at once. Dinner in Homestead or an unhurried hour anywhere beats sitting in the exit queue — the hotel is close enough that there’s no long haul waiting for you either way.
- The non-race day
Two national parks within 20 minutes
Everglades National Park and Biscayne National Park are each about 20 minutes from the hotel, and Key Largo is 35 — the rare race trip where the off day is this good.
What to book ahead
- Your room — the day you buy race tickets. This is the whole game.
- Track parking passes, per the Speedway’s instructions for your event.
- Ear protection for everyone, especially kids — it is not optional at a NASCAR race.
Tips from our front desk
- We host race crews and returning fans who know the drill — ask the front desk about parking-pass logistics and timing when you check in.
- The hotel is minutes from the track but outside the immediate gate traffic, so you sleep away from the noise and still beat most of the morning queue.
- Check the Speedway’s official site for the event schedule — beyond the marquee NASCAR and IMSA weekends there are track days and events year-round.
- Traveling with a trailer or hauler? Ask us about parking when you book.
